Some aspects of the Catholic/Christian faith can be identified in the novel. One is love, as Mackenzie obviously loves every member of his family with all his heart, and will do anything to keep them safe. Another virtue is protectiveness. Mackenzie has already saved Josh from drowning, and is doing everything he can to save Missy from the kidnappers. This book so far is showing several religious virtues, and I'm sure it will continue to do so.
Mack seems to lack aspects of the Christian/Catholic faith. For example (Now I can see where he is coming from )even though he is in God's presence, Mack doesn't seem to believe. It's almost like he is trying not too... I mean most people would think it's a dream or they are going crazy but still. So Mack lacks belief. He also seems to lack trust in God. Even though God figures out Mack's deepest secrets and things he still doesn't seem to trust that it is actually God. Also he doesn't trust God's ability to make a new person of him and wants to do it all on his own. Now anyone put through that would have doubts but again still after all God did, and said he still doesn't trust. For example God made spring from winter and Mack still doesn't trust even though the only logical explanation is a miracle.
I also think that Mack lacks faith. He has pushed God out of his life because he thinks God abandoned him. Missy may have been taken from him but God never leaves him. It is Mack who has actually left God.
This book teaches us that we need to have faith in God no matter what happens. Bad things will happen but we still need to trust God. Everything happens for a reason. God works in mysterious ways. He will be there for us.
This book revolves around the aspects of a Catholic faith. The book supports several of our beliefs. For instance, the Holy Trinity, God's forgiveness, and God always being with us. All of these have taken a key role in the book so far, and I'm sure they will continue to be present throughout the rest of the story. Overall, this book shows several similarities between our beliefs and the beliefs portrayed in the story.
This books shows how To be closer to God, it show that God is forgiving and that he loves everyone and that with him anything is possibly like Mack walking on the lake or Mack forgiving his father and the Killer. It show to be close we must forgive and love others no matter what they have done to us.
