What examples of figurative language and sound effects can you find in the book? Put the example in quotation marks, list the page number, and tell what type it is.
An example of figurative language is "At times he could feel the Great Sadness slowly tightening around his chest and heart like the crushing coils of a constrictor..." This similie can be found on page 27.
"...he was driving right into the center of his pain, the vortex of 'the great sadness'" pg. 74 this is an example of hyperbole. Mack is just driving down a road.
"It is like looking at a parade through a tiny knothole of hurt, pain, self-centeredness, and power and believing you are on your own and insignificant," (pg 132). This is a simile.
On page 168, "The voicing of their joy was a symphony to Mack's ears..." this is a example of a metaphor. It is comparing two things human and inhuman things.

ReplyDeleteOn page 10 "I find myself struggling to grasp the concepts spilling out like a tumbling river of gemstones." I believe to a great example of a simile.
